What are priority skills?

Last updated: October 15, 2026

On each graded paper, Ed.ai flags up to three skills as the student’s priorities. You see them with a red minus sign, labeled “Area for improvement”, in the paper’s “Our analysis” section and on the student’s profile. Priority skills are skills that:

  • the student hasn’t mastered yet: “Emerging” skills come first, then “Below Expectations” skills the student at least started to answer,

  • the student can improve fairly quickly with targeted support.

Ed.ai favors skills assessed in several questions, and skips skills the student didn’t attempt at all.

🎯 They are efficient starting points for a targeted reteaching activity, or for going over a concept again in class.

Ed.ai detects them automatically from the errors your students actually made on their papers. It also flags up to three “Strong point” skills per paper, shown with a green plus sign.

When you create a reteaching activity, the skills list shows your class’s results, with the weakest skills first.
