How do I create a reteaching activity for my class or for specific students?

Last updated: October 15, 2026

🎯 Goal

Ed.ai prepares targeted reteaching activities (also called remediation) for your whole class, a needs group or specific students, based on their results on a graded assessment. For example: solving systems of equations, or finding the slope from two points.

🧭 Step 1: start the creation

In your assessment, open the “Reteaching activities” tab, then click “Generate a Reteaching Activity”.

The button becomes active as soon as at least one paper is graded.

💡 You can also start:

  • from the “Insights” tab: click a skill, select one or more mastery levels if needed, then click “Generate a reteaching activity”. The skill and the students are then already selected;

  • from a student’s paper: in the paper’s menu, choose “Create a reteaching activity”. The activity is then prepared for that student.

đŸ§© Step 2: “Remediation type”

Choose the activity: “Review”, “Practice”, “Work on mistakes”, “Do it again” or “Take on a challenge”. Each type is described in RemĂ©diation : fonctionnement et bonnes pratiques.

📚 Step 3: “Learning selection”

Check the skills to work on. For each one, the table shows your class’s results, with the weakest skills first.

For “Do it again”, this step becomes “Exercise selection”: check the assessment exercises to set again (“View the question sheet” lets you reread them).

🧑‍🎓 Step 4: “Student selection”

Choose who the activity is for:

  • “By needs group”: the students at a given level on these skills (“Below Expectations”, “Emerging”, “Satisfactory”, “Excellent”). The number of students shows for each level.

  • “The whole class”.

  • “Specific students”: click “Add students” to pick them.

⚙ Step 5: “Settings”

Choose how long the activity lasts (5 minutes to 1 hour, or a custom duration). Under “Advanced options”, you can also:

  • “Include student answer areas on the remediation itself” (on by default);

  • depending on the activity, choose how students work (“Individual work”, “Group work” or “Guided discussion”);

  • for “Practice”, choose the question format (“Mixed formats”, “Multiple choice” or “Written answers”);

  • for “Do it again”, “Add hints to guide students”.

Then click “Finish and create”.

📂 Where’s my activity?

Your activity is ready in a few minutes, and a notification lets you know. You’ll find it in the assessment’s “Reteaching activities” tab.

It stays private until you share it. To hand it out to your students:

  • Open the activity and click “Share”.

  • Under “Shared version”, choose “Student version” (no feedback or comments) or “Teacher version” (with feedback and comments).

  • Check the list of students, then turn on “Open student access”.

The activity then shows up in your students’ space, under “Remediation Activities”.
