Are scores recalculated automatically when I adjust the grading scale?
Last updated: October 15, 2026
No, not automatically: you decide when to regrade.
When you change the grading scale of an assessment whose papers are already graded, a banner appears: “Your grading scale has been modified. Would you like to regrade your papers with these changes? This process will take a few minutes.” Click “Regrade papers”, then confirm.
Regrading grades every paper again with the new grading scale:
-
scores are recalculated,
-
the related comments are updated,
-
every new criterion or adjustment in the grading scale is applied.
⚠️ The current grading is replaced. Changes you made by hand on the papers (scores, comments, review) are erased, and papers you've already shared are hidden from your students until you share them again.
👉 If you've already reviewed your papers and only one question needs to change, change its score directly on the papers concerned instead, without regrading: the exercise score and the total score update automatically.
