Does the AI recognize every correct answer?

Last updated: October 15, 2026

Ed.ai's AI is designed to recognize every correct and relevant answer to a question, even when it doesn't follow the answer key word for word.

🎯 That's why your answer key doesn't need to list every possible way to answer:

  • it helps the AI understand what you expect,

  • Ed.ai analyzes what students' answers mean, to identify the different correct ways to respond to the same question.

In math, that matters: two students can solve the same problem through different valid methods. The AI looks at the reasoning itself, so an unexpected but mathematically sound approach gets credit.

An answer key is optional, but adding one brings the grading closer to what you expect: see Comment Ed.ai gère-t-il la correction sans corrigé ?.

📌 The result: even if a student words an answer in an unexpected way, or differently from your answer key, the AI can recognize it as correct if it meets what you expect.

In short: your answer key shows what you expect, without having to list every possible answer. The AI always aims to spot every possible correct answer, to respect the variety of your students' wording and methods.
