What is a group?

Last updated: October 15, 2026

A group is, first of all, one of your classes: when your school connects its LMS or SIS, Ed.ai brings in your classes automatically, as they're set up there (Google Classroom, Canvas, Clever, ClassLink, Schoology…).

But we say “groups” rather than “classes” because you can also create more flexible groups of students, based on your teaching needs, beyond the class period itself.

For example:

  • a group of students with specific needs (students with an IEP or a 504 plan, gifted students, English learners),

  • a group that spans several class periods,

  • a group per test version (Form A / Form B),

  • a group for a project, a topic or targeted reteaching.

A student can belong to several groups at once. See Est-ce que je peux affecter un élève à plusieurs groupes ?
