Does Ed.ai use sub-processors?

Last updated: October 15, 2026

Yes. Ed.ai uses Microsoft Azure to host its data. That data is hosted in the United States (West US 3 region). Azure meets the strictest standards for privacy, reliability and data security (SOC 2 Type II, ISO 27001, ISO 27018, FedRAMP High).

👉 No personal data is shared with third parties or used for commercial purposes.

👉 Student papers are de-identified before any processing by external AI models. No model is trained on your students' written work.

🧩 Who our sub-processors are

Each one is covered by a signed data processing agreement (DPA):

  • Hosting: Microsoft Azure (servers, encrypted storage and backups).

  • AI processing: Azure OpenAI, Azure AI (Claude, Mistral) and Google Cloud (Gemini). They only receive de-identified content, under no-retention, no-training terms.

  • Running the product: Sentry (error tracking, with personal data scrubbed) and Pylon (support requests).

  • Communication: Mandrill, Mailchimp and HubSpot, for teacher and school contacts only, never student data.

  • Rostering: Edlink, which brings in your classes from your school's LMS or SIS.

  • Website analytics: Google Analytics, on our public website only, with no student data.

📄 Privacy transparency

Our commitments, practices and data-protection documents are all in the Ed.ai Data Privacy Hub. The full list of our sub-processors (role, data processed, location and safeguards) is at ed.ai/en/data-privacy/sub-processors.
